Artist in Residency

Café Tissardmine, Sahara Desert, Morocco

In January 2024, Jacinta expanded her creative practice by completing an artist

residency in the Sahara Desert, Morocco. This residency allowed her to experience new perspectives and references for her artistic practice. She used the opportunity to extend her use of found objects, creating two suspended sculptures that employed techniques of bricolage, resourcefulness, and improvisation. Her aim in making these works was to elevate quotidian and redundant objects, gleaned from her daily walks in the desert, into poetic creations and to create new dialogues between each found object. This residency also gave the artist the chance for international collaboration and to make work in a remote and unique landscape.
